Plaster Wall Crack Repair . Also, there are a few places- -about two feet square- -where the plaster feels loose. Any suggestions on how to repair these problems? Now as I stare at the cracks in the walls and ceiling in my home office (if you've never lived with one, writers will do nearly anything to avoid writing!) I realize I've got more work to do. I'll deal with your question in two parts. I did a demonstration of historic lime horse hair plaster at my church using a 4. After three coats of lime plaster, scratch, brown, and finish, the 4 Today let's tackle those cracks. First, you should know that plaster cracks are a normal occurrence, and you'll probably have to patch a few of them each time you repaint your walls and ceilings. The cracks occur because plaster is fairly brittle while buildings- -despite their seeming permanence- -tend to move around quite a bit. Chances are that some of the cracks in your walls run out at odd angles from the corners of windows and doors. These are caused by the fact that your house (like most if not all houses) has settled over the years. Other wall and ceiling cracks probably run in more- or- less straight lines- -almost as if someone had planned them that way. These cracks are usually caused by seasonal changes in humidity, which creates stress points in the plaster as the framing lumber in your walls expands or contracts as it takes on (or gives up) moisture from the air. ![]() Given that cracks will reappear sometime down the road, your goal with this job is to delay that day for as long as possible. To do so, you'll first need to tape the cracks before repairing them. Otherwise they'll reappear within a few months, or sometimes even a few days. To complete this job, you'll need four- inch, six- inch and 1. You'll also need a drywall pan or a plaster's hawk to hold the . Then tape the cracks using self- adhering fiberglass mesh tape, which you can find at any hardware store or lumberyard. Next, apply three or four layers of joint compound (using a wider knife each time) to cover the tape and disguise the repair. Finally, sand out any imperfections and uneven spots so that your repairs blend invisibly into the existing plaster. Why use self- adhering tape? ![]() Because it's easier to apply and more flexible and long- lasting than paper tape, which needs to embedded in a layer of joint compound to stick. Which type of joint compound should you use? This question is from Wet and Set Patented Wall and Ceiling Patch (Roll). I've successfully used everything ranging from dry powders to the goo that comes in standard, ready- mix 5- gallon containers. The advantage of ready mix compounds is that they're easy, cheap and don't have to be mixed. The advantage of the powdered joint compounds that you must mix with water is that they dry more quickly, form a harder finish, and bond better to the old plaster. But these days, I use neither. Instead I use the newer . Unlike their predecessors, these new- generation compounds don't shrink as they dry. And while they don't form as hard of an outer layer as dry powders, they do offer another distinct selling point: once you've applied three layers of compound over your tape you can. ![]()

Taking the time to narrow down what is causing the black spots will help you determine whether or not your condition is serious and what kind of treatment is necessary to help get rid of them. It's important to make note of the other symptoms you are experiencing along with the black spots on the tongue to help narrow down the cause of your ailment. What do Black Spots on Tongue Look Like? Black spots may vary based on what is causing them to appear. In some cases they can literally be small black specks across the tongue. In other cases black patches may appear across the tongue, which typically start at the sides of the tongue and spread up to the center. ![]() The darkness of the spots may also vary from client to client. Some can be light and gray, some may appear more brown and others may be very dark. In some cases the black spots on the tongue may also be slightly raised, but this should not cause discomfort or pain. Causes of Black Spots on Tongue. Ailment. There are a number of ailments that can lead to black pigmentation on the tongue. One of the most common causes of this ailment is hyper- pigmentation or oral fibroma. This is essentially a birthmark on the tongue that may become more prominent over time. Oral piercing. If you have recently had an oral piercing put in, black pigmentation may appear around the site. This may be caused by the tongue becoming bruised from the piercing process, but it can also be due to the exposure to the metal in the stud. For best observations do your tongue analysis first thing in the morning after getting out of bed, before brushing your teeth, drinking anything or eating. While you sleep your body has time and.Biting the tongue, causing a cut or bumping the tongue can cause the tongue to become bruise in a similar fashion. Exposure to chemicals. Sometimes the entire tongue will turn black. Excessive exposure to chemicals such as bismuth can react with acids naturally found on the tongue and cause the tissue to temporarily turn black. One of the most common sources of these chemicals includes chewable Pepto- Bismol tablets. Hairy tongue. A condition such as hairy tongue can cause the entire tongue to turn black as well. Tiny black spots will start to appear across the tongue due to excessive use of tobacco, alcohol or antibiotics. This is caused by a fungus that grows across in small black patches across the tongue. If you continue to expose yourself to these products, the black spots can continue to spread until the entire tongue turns black. Oral cancer. In extreme cases the tongue can turn black due to the development of oral cancer. This is a very rare side effect of this condition, so it is important not to panic or jump to conclusions if black patches begin to develop on the tongue. If these black spots are combined with lumps in the mouth or difficulty swelling then you may be dealing with a cancerous growth, but otherwise it is likely that you are dealing with one of the conditions listed above. ![]() ![]() Treatments of Black Spots on Tongue. Change oral hygiene routine. The first step you should take when trying to get rid of unsightly black spots on the tongue is to alter your oral hygiene routine. Brush your teeth at least twice a day to help remove particles throughout the mouth that might be contributing to the dark pigmentation throughout your mouth. Be sure to gently brush the tongue or use a tongue cleaner to help remove the buildup that is turning your tongue black. Be careful to do this gently to avoid causing damage to the tongue and keep the toothbrush and tongue cleaner you use sanitized so that the bacteria does not grow on these devices. Alter your habits. A purple tongue usually indicates Blood stagnation within the body. Red bumps at the back on the side indicates wat. When you are suffering from hairy tongue syndrome you can clean your mouth to help remove the fungus causing the coloring, but you will need to get rid of the root cause of the problem if you do not want the black growths to return. Quitting smoking, cutting down on drinking and altering your diet can help you avoid these symptoms so that you are not dealing with a constant fungal infection in your mouth. If you notice that you are developing a great deal of fungus in your mouth or that the fungus is growing quickly, contact your doctor to see if you need additional treatment to get rid of the fungus. Your doctor may also have tips that you can use to help clean up your mouth.

If you have recently had a tongue piercing or oral surgery it is likely that the black pigmentation in your mouth is just a bruise. Follow any instructions given to you by your doctor or piercing artist regarding keeping your mouth clean to avoid infection. If the pigmentation does not lessen or go away after one or two weeks you can consult with a dermatologist to help ensure that the coloring in your mouth is not a symptom of serious damage to your mouth. More treatment. Black spots on the tongue that are accompanied by other symptoms such as growths in the mouth, pain or difficulty swallowing should be checked by your doctor as soon as possible. This could be a sign that you are developing a more serious condition such as oral cancer that will require more serious treatment. Your doctor can help you determine if you will need additional treatment to help remove these spots. The Falsebound Kingdom - Dolphin Emulator Wiki. Yu- Gi- Oh! It's also decently common to go to bars/clubs in Manhattan, but a 2. ID is usually needed. College Senior. Jul 2. Party Scene. Parties happen at students' nearby off- campus apartments, most often on the weekends, as students normally go bars on weeknights. It's pretty easy to meet new people at parties. College Senior. Security is tight on campus and Public Safety officers patrol the off campus areas where students hang out and life. We do live in the Bronx, but being aware is all it takes to remain completely safe. College Senior. Jul 2. Campus Housing. Options are good for upperclassmen, and okay for freshmen. Freshmen want to live in Loyola, which is newly and beautifully renovated. Queens is also beautiful but older and requires a no alcohol/drug commitment - great for some, not for others. You volunteer/apply to life here. It has a tight community. South and Loschert are the same. Typical dorm housing, it's nice enough. Martyr's isn't great. Very small, cramped communal spaces, doesn't foster great community. Sophomores tend to live on campus, and it's still fun to do so as a sophomore. There are diverse options and you can definitely find something that works well for you. Many juniors and seniors live off campus, but there are very nice apartment style options for those who decide to stay on campus. College Senior. Jul 2. Athletics. Fordham feels like a small school; we don't need athletics to bring us together. If I attend a sports event, it is to support my friends on the team, rather than that game or match being a social event on its own. My school spirit is driven mainly by pride in our academics instead of athletic success. While Fordham has the typical administrative issues, it fosters a unique and tight- knit community. The students are driven but not competitive; they desire to learn. The professors are excellent and many are leaders in their academic fields. People at Fordham are bright, interesting, innovative, funny and grounded. Most like to party but do so in NYC - it's not always the typical college party scene. College Senior. Jul 1. Diversity. Our campus does have some ethnic diversity, and we do have a fairly significant amount of foreign students. However, the vast majority of the students at Fordham, particularly the Rose Hill area, are white, catholic, and from the tri- state area. College Senior. Jul 1. Drug Safety. Since Fordham is in New York and even the Bronx campus is in such close proximity to Manhattan, there are so many things to do that if someone isn't into drugs or alcohol, they can easily avoid the party scene. Fordham itself can be pretty strict about enforcing drug use and underage drinking and there is usually no bending the rules if you get caught. College Freshman. Jun 2. 2Athletics.
